ALICE DREFFS

(nee KABALUK)

After a brief illness, Alice Dreffs passed away on March 7, 2026.

She is survived by her daughters, Dale Dreffs and Leanne Bayne (Jeff), granddaughter Alison Strother (Joey) and grandson Connor Bayne, great-granddaughters, Billie and Daphne Strother, and brother Ron Kabaluk. She was predeceased by her husband Alex Dreffs and parents, Mike and Dora Kabaluk.

Alice was born near Lac Du Bonnet and moved to Beausejour when she married Alex. She worked for the Manitoba Department of Agriculture for over 36 years, most recently as Administrative Officer for Eastern Manitoba. She loved her job and made many treasured friends.

Alice was a strong and pragmatic person, taking great pride in living on her own, with help from her "adopted" son and daughter, Scotty Bodnarchuk and Holly Madden who were always on call for many repairs, projects, and tech support emergencies. Food was her love language and she kept us all well-stocked with perogies and other favourites. In addition, she was an expert knitter, creating and gifting many afghans to her loved ones.

She was adventurous and travelled to many parts of the US, Mexico, the Caribbean, through Europe extensively to watch the several world curling championships, as well as Australia and Israel. She also visited us annually at Christmas, always arriving with a suitcase full of food, and happy to get to our homes and celebrate with a gin and tonic.

Mom always signed cards to her kids and grandkids, with "All my Love" and she meant it. We will carry that love in our hearts forever.

Special thanks to Holly Madden, Scott Bodnarchuk and Bill Mitchell for their care and support, and to the exceptional health care team at the Health Sciences Centre Step Down Unit. We are forever grateful.

Private service at later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Alice can be made to Siloam Mission www.siloam.ca or the Brokenhead River Community Foundation (brcfoundation.ca).
